What to bring:  Be sure to dress for current outdoor conditions - spring's here, the weather can be unpredictable -- chilly, and layers are your friends after the sun goes down. Blankets, shawls & sweaters are implicated!  If it's too cold or wet outside, we'll do the fire homa indoors. It is also a good idea to bring a cushion to sit on.  And of course -- roses & snacks...!

Sunday May 20th —  New Moon Healing Fire Homa (Ceremony)
**this event canceled because of eclipse, see you all next month!

Purifying the soul through the fire element

Charging & decharging through the powerful energy of the New Moon

Better living through fire & meditation, increasing prosperity & connecting to the Mother Divine...
Come charge and decharge your soul fires in Bonny Doon!

Come enjoy the healing power of the fire element, at a Vedic fire ceremony (homa, or yagyam).  Using the power of the new moon (when the moon is dark) to help decharge whatever stress, strain, anxiety, dis-ease, and overwhelm, you'll find a rapid release and relief in your life -- leaving you free to create beautiful activities or maintain balance in your everyday life.

The ancient saints of India kept their sacred fires burning continually, as a way of helping purify the atmosphere and the consciousness in this world. One fire homa is roughly the equivalent of a month's worth of focused meditation, to the soul -- it's a huge charging up, a strengthening, of our soul fires.

WHAT'S A FIRE HOMA!?? This and other questions answered on the Homa FAQ page.

Saturday May 26th — Paramashiva Yoga: The Depth Of Dattatreya & The Sapta Rishis

An all-day workshop in an ancient healing & consciousness technology, deep in the energy of Shiva & Mother Divine

Paramashiva Yoga, an extensive, encylopedic body of knowledge from Sri Kaleshwar and the ancient palm leaf manuscripts, is a powerful framework of the spiritual path and life.

All of the layers of Mother's creation are included and explained in Paramashiva Yoga, from the different soul levels to the five elements, the Shiva energy channels, Dattatreya, and more -- all culminating in the experience of the darshan of Mother Divine.

Learning about Paramashiva Yoga is a powerful initiation into this comprehensive system -- we will explore the intensive teachings of the 21 stages of this process and knowledge, as well as learning the mantras that are an essential part of the practice of Paramashiva Yoga.

Sunday May 27th — Inside The Nada Bindu: The Diamond Yantra

An all-day workshop in an ancient healing & consciousness technology

This exciting subject -- The Diamond Yantra -- hadn't been taught outside of India until recently, at UCBK -- and is back by request for a second round of teaching!

Join UCBK in an intensive day of the healing and consciousness experience embedded in this powerful yantra system -- the innermost structure of the Nada Bindu, brought to life by Adi Shankaracharya.  This yantra -- straight from the palm leaf books and phenomenal knowledge being re-introduced to the world by Sri Kaleshwar -- is an incredibly powerful device, containing links to the Divine Mother's Womb Chakra and the five elements.

Participants in this beautiful teaching will learn how to draw this yantra, putting it on copper and then coming together in a brief fire homa to charge/activate the yantras.  The day also includes a review/teaching of the Five Elements short-cut techniques associated with this yantra.

Materials to bring for the class:

* large art paper (several pieces or a whole pad)
* colored markers, pencils, etc. for drawing
* pencil
* straight-edge or ruler
* white-out (yes, really!)
* 14" x 14" piece of smooth cardboard or cork-board

About The Sai Shakti Satsang

Sai Shakti Satsang includes some sacred song (bhajan) singing, peaceful & uplifting healing meditation, followed by a group discussion around a spiritual subject...

Jonathan & Alx share knowledge, insights, and spiritual healing energy from this 'new ancient tradition' of Shirdi Sai Baba & his lineage of healing saints, leading to a group question-and-answer discussion to create sat-sang (literally, 'divine truth in a group setting').

New!  Join Sai Shakti Satsang by phone from anywhere in the world!

You can also join Sai Shakti Satsang by remote conference call - send an email to the UCBK Temple if you'd like to be included in UCBK's notification emails (including the phone number and access code).

"I'm happily applauding and promoting your Thursday night satsang-over-the-phone. I am literally amazed, impressed and inspired that the Divine knowledge can be so wonderfully, skillfully and thoroughly presented and shared over the phone... "
        -- C.M., Palo Alto, CA

"As the call progressed I realized that my self-doubt and fear is part of the process of going to a deeper level.

When the two of you spoke of how when you realized that "the energy is running in YOU" ... and that we're not going to India to sit in his lap, that it's about communicating on an internal level,  I thought, "that's what started to happen to me. WOW!!!!!! OH MY GOD!"

A step towards clarity.  That's why I'm going to Penukonda in February.
I want to start to harvest this strange surge of energy that he's opened up for me and to THINK on it.  Instead of running around here in New York like a lunatic."
                                                      --   V.J., New York

Why is a group dynamic so important, and a fundamental part of any serious spiritual undertaking?

One part of the answer lies in a mysterious concept called 'protection circles,' the soul (and angelic) layers of support and mystical protection that are developed any time more than one or two people come together to share spiritual practice.

There is a compelling story about a group of Japanese monks meditating at the time the United States dropped the atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima -- IN Hiroshima. The whole city was reduced to fire and ash but their monastery kept standing and the whole group of monks was unharmed by the explosion and subsequent radiation.

Why?    Protection circles, because they were meditating together as a group.

There really is no substitute for group experience, group spiritual practice, and the support that can be found in a spiritual community.  A group can advance spiritually in a rapid way, where an individual is more likely to get stuck and flounder.

The satsang experience, on a weekly basis, reminds people who are committed to living a spiritual life about the importance of meditation, healing, inspiration, support, love, understanding and compassion on a day-to-day level, as a practical function of spiritual discipline. It gives everyone a chance to go deeper into their spiritual practice and meditation experiences, and to ask questions along the way about the different stages and adventures of spiritual life.

You can find out more about this expression of 'groupism' by checking out Alx' blog.

Alx & Jonathan returned to Santa Cruz in March 2005, after spending seven years studying in India. Their training was/is in intense spirituality and healing techniques from a Shiva-Shakti** tradition with the miracle healing lineage (Guru Parampara) of Shirdi Sai Baba, Jesus Christ, and other luminous saints.

**Shakti - 1) high powerful divine energy. 2) the Feminine divine force, expressed as the principle of creation. 3) part of the mechanism of miracles. 4) another name for the Divine Mother or Goddess.

What They're Saying

"It is truly a delight to watch the two of you step into leadership with such love and dedication. It shows a true self mastery to be able to give so much so deeply to so many. May all your days be blessed and may you feel the gratitude of my heart for your sharing of the sacred knowledge."
                                                                                                    — G.R., Grover Beach

"Thank you for the wonderful Saturday evening, your presence and the knowledge you shared. My inspiration is back on track, I found it not very easy to do it all alone."
                                                                                              —
Y., Los Angeles

"Again, Blessings to you both for your wonderful work and sharing the Divine Knowledge. I will certainly do my part to keep the energy going..."
                                                                                              — S., Los Angeles
